Vibram discs

Vibram made disc golf discs from rubber rather than the plastics every other manufacturer uses, which remains the most distinctive material experiment the sport has seen. The rubber compound gave the discs a grip and a dead, non-skipping landing that nothing else replicated, at the cost of weight distribution options and a higher price.

All of its molds ran in the X-Link rubber compound, offered in Soft, Medium, Firm and Float grades plus a glow version, and the catalog included the Ibex, Ascent, Trak, Lace, Notch and Summit.

Vibram wound the line down in the 2010s and has since run occasional limited batches sold direct, most visibly in 2022 when the Lace, Arch, Ibex and Ridge returned. As of August 2026 vibram.com carries no disc golf category and no major retailer lists Vibram discs in stock, and almost every mold in this database is marked out of production. Discs still turn up on the secondhand market, where the rubber's durability means older examples often remain serviceable.
