Catapult

4.3(43)
Distance Driver

The Catapult is a speed-14 Westside distance driver rated 14/4/-0.5/3, with a little high-speed turn and a solid fade. It is aimed at players with the arm speed to get a 14-speed rim up to pace; slower arms are likely to see mostly fade and less distance than a slower driver would give them.

Westside pitches it as a very fast driver with enough stability for full-power throws and long carries over obstacles. One big-arm thrower on Disc Golf Course Review in 2016 found new ones turned more than expected and needed height, and did not see it as a headwind disc.

The PDGA approved the Catapult on 25 February 2016 (16-17), and Westside's Finnish site gave 4 March 2016 as the launch date for its VIP and Tournament runs. That site listed it at 14/5/0/3 in 2016, while the current numbers are the ones above. Its Finnish name is Katapultti, and Westside notes that the stamp actually shows a trebuchet. On our comparison table its nearest matches are the Westside World and the Axiom Panic.

Rim ThicknessHow wide the rim is. Wider rims make faster discs that need a stronger throw.
2.3 cm
Rim Inside DiameterThe width of the flat middle, inside the rim. Bigger usually means a slower, easier disc.

BeadA small ridge under the edge of the rim, mostly on putters. It changes how the disc feels in hand.

4.343 reviews from 5 stores

Try Discs adds up reviews from six disc golf stores, so you see what players think across stores, not just at one shop. Reviews are great for spotting proven, popular discs. Take the details with a grain of salt, though: runs, plastics and skill level all change how a disc flies, so your experience may vary.
