X3

Distance Driver
The X3 is a fast Prodigy distance driver rated 12/6/-1/2, from its low-profile X Series. Lots of glide, a little turn and a moderate fade suit long, straight drives and shaped lines on wooded holes. Players who need an overstable driver for strong wind should look elsewhere. Prodigy described it at launch as a consistent, slightly overstable driver for a wide range of skill levels, a little less stable than the X2 with a longer glide and softer finish. Its X Series discs have a shallower rim than the D Series for speed out of the hand. Catrina Allen and Caroline Henderson have had signature runs. The PDGA approved the X3 on 11 June 2017 (17-72), and Prodigy released it on 17 August 2017. Prodigy's 2023 update raised its glide to 6, and Prodigy ended production in November 2024. Try Discs lists it in 400, 400G, 500, 500 Spectrum, 750, AIR Spectrum and Prodigy Air as of October 2026. On our comparison table its nearest matches are the Discraft Ares and the Innova Racer.

HeightHow tall the disc is lying flat. Putters are usually the tallest.
1.7 cm
Rim DepthHow deep the rim is underneath, where your fingers grip. Putters have the deepest rims.

2.2 cm
Rim Inside DiameterThe width of the flat middle, inside the rim. Bigger usually means a slower, easier disc.
16.6 cm
Rim Depth/Diameter RatioRim depth as a share of the disc's width. Higher means a deeper rim for its size.
5.2%
Rim ConfigurationA PDGA score for the shape of the edge. Low is sharp, like a driver. High is rounded, like a putter.
30.5

4.699 reviews from 5 stores

Try Discs adds up reviews from six disc golf stores, so you see what players think across stores, not just at one shop. Reviews are great for spotting proven, popular discs. Take the details with a grain of salt, though: runs, plastics and skill level all change how a disc flies, so your experience may vary.
