Volt

4.7(420)
Control Driver
The Volt is a speed-8 control driver from MVP, which files it with its fairway drivers, rated 8/5/-0.5/2. It flies close to straight with a slight drift before a firm, forward-moving fade, which makes it a fit for long, tight fairways where placement matters more than raw distance. It is less suited to players who want a disc that turns over easily or finishes straight. MVP's flight notes say average throwers and tailwinds get very little turn from it, while harder throws and headwinds bring out a small turnover phase before the fade. MVP pitches that response to power as the reason it works as a core long driver for a wide range of players: stronger arms get a little extra movement, softer arms get a straighter line with a dependable finish. The PDGA approved the Volt on 2 July 2012 (12-33). It has carried several special runs since: a Special Edition Fission Volt in August 2019, a Cosmic Neutron debut in November 2019, and a 2025 Team Series Neutron Volt for Mauri Villmann. On our comparison table its nearest matches are the Latitude 64 Falchion and the Mint Discs Pizza. Try Discs lists the Volt in Neutron, Cosmic Neutron, Proton, Plasma, Electron and Fission as of October 2026.

17.1 cm
Rim Depth/Diameter RatioRim depth as a share of the disc's width. Higher means a deeper rim for its size.
5.2%
Rim ConfigurationA PDGA score for the shape of the edge. Low is sharp, like a driver. High is rounded, like a putter.

The MVP Volt is one of the most-reviewed discs we track.

Try Discs adds up reviews from six disc golf stores, so you see what players think across stores, not just at one shop. Reviews are great for spotting proven, popular discs. Take the details with a grain of salt, though: runs, plastics and skill level all change how a disc flies, so your experience may vary.
