The Axiom Pyro is a beadless, overstable midrange that sports a straight flight with a consistent fade. It is well-suited for windy conditions due to its consistent flight, resistance to turning over, and high torque resistance. The Pyro is also typically board flat, which enhances its stable flight and wind-fighting capabilities. It was meant to be a slightly less overstable version of the MVP Deflector with more glide, and the flight of the Pyro lines up with that goal.

The Pyro was Axiom’s first attempt at an overstable midrange, released in 2019, and it performed well enough on courses and in sales that Axiom did not release another disc in that slot until 2025. It has remained a popular choice for pros as well since its release, a notable example being Eagle McMahon. The most collectible run of Pyros is the Watermelon Pyros.
