Katana

The Katana is a fast, understable distance driver rated 13/5/-3/3, built for finesse throwers and downwind distance: it turns willingly to the right (for a right-handed backhand) at speed, then fades back hard at the end, giving it a big, sweeping S-flight when thrown with control rather than raw power.

Innova recommends it as a downwind driver and describes it, memorably, as resembling a Boss physically with the flight of a Sidewinder on steroids, a lot of high-speed turn feeding into a strong fade. Hit the release angle right and it carries a long way. One note on plastic: Innova says Champion Katanas fly a touch more stable than the base rating (around 13/5/-2/3). It is a shallow, beadless speed-13 rim, and it rewards touch, since too much power exaggerates the turn.

Approved in 2009, the Katana is a long-standing finesse-distance option in Innova's driver lineup.

Star gives the fullest turn-and-fade S-flight; Champion holds the more stable end and lasts longer.
