The Surge is a power distance driver rated 11/5/-1/3: fast, a touch of high-speed workability, and a strong dependable fade. It rewards solid arm speed with long, slightly S-shaped flights that always finish left; slower arms will see mostly hyzer.

The slight turn keeps it from being a pure meat-hook, but the fade makes the ending non-negotiable, which suits power backhands and forehands that want a driver to trust in wind. Its understable sibling, the Surge SS, covers the moderate-arm version of the same frame.

Approved in February 2006 (PDGA cert 06-02), the Surge was a mainstay of Discraft's power-driver lineup for three years before the Nuke arrived, and remained a fixture for years after.

Its run list is compact: ESP and Z Line premium, with Pro-D as the budget door.
