Mantis

The Mantis is an understable control driver rated 8/4/-2/2, aimed at controlled distance for average arm speeds. Thrown smooth it turns gently and comes back with a modest fade, an easy S-line without max effort; it is not a headwind driver, and big arms will push it past straight.

The -2 turn makes it a natural hyzer-flip and turnover fairway, and slower arms can use it as their distance driver while they build speed. Like most understable fairways it drifts flippier as it wears, so many players cycle copies.

The Mantis was the mold behind Discraft's 2013 Ace Race (PDGA cert 13-74, approved that December), the yearly event built around an unreleased prototype, and it earned a permanent lineup spot afterward.

Pro-D and X Line are the budget ways in, Z Line, Big Z, and Z Lite cover the standard premium range (Z Lite helpfully light for slower arms), and CryZtal, Cryztal Sparkle, and the Tour Series ESP runs sit at the collectible end.
