Hornet

The Hornet is a discontinued overstable midrange rated 5/5/0/4: ordinary mid speed and glide with a fade that arrives hard. It filled the wind-mid and forehand-mid role, the disc for shots that must end left without argument.

Power did little to change it, which was the appeal: overpowered mids and gusty approaches stayed predictable, trading distance for certainty.

The mold was the prototype for Discraft's 2010 Ace Race (PDGA cert 10-38, approved that November), the annual event thrown entirely with an unreleased disc, and it held a lineup spot for a stretch afterward before being retired.
