FD2

The FD2 is Discmania's stable workhorse fairway driver, rated 7/4/0/2: enough fade to trust in wind, enough glide for real fairway distance, and a torque-resistant feel that suits backhands and forehands equally. It is the step up from the famously straight FD when you want the flight to finish with authority.

The name needs untangling, because it has covered two molds. The original FD2 debuted in 2014, with early C-Line runs supporting the European Masters in Stockholm, and was retooled in 2018. Then, in Discmania's mid-2025 fairway reshuffle, the mold introduced as the FD1 in late 2022 took over the FD2 name, while the FD1 name moved to the former Instinct. Current FD2 stock is therefore the ex-FD1 mold, long loved as the FD's more stable brother, and pre-2025 FD2 stamps are the earlier, beefier mold.

By the numbers the current version is the FD family's dependable middle child: no high-speed turn at clean power and a forward fade rather than a dump, with a small, smooth rim feel close to the FD's. Discmania freshly certified the renamed mold in September 2025 (PDGA 25-150), the third FD2-named certification since 2014, which is why spec sheets differ between eras.

Current production runs in C-Line and S-Line. Buying used: 2025-and-later stamps are the ex-FD1 mold, older FD2 stamps are the original. And if you bagged a pre-2025 FD1, today's FD2 is simply your disc under its new name.
