The Leatherback is a putt and approach disc rated 2/3/0/1. Its slow speed, moderate glide and light fade suggest a straight putting flight with a gentle finish for a right-hand backhand. Its ratings suggest it is less suited to players seeking a strong fade on approaches.

RIPR, a Vancouver mini-disc brand, offered the Leatherback as the putter in its three-disc golf set, alongside the Grey Wolf and Flame Skimmer, and lists TPE as the material. Its stamp shows a geometric sea turtle and the same rating. The PDGA approved it on 15 April 2024 (24-78). RIPR's set was listed as out of stock by October 2025.
