A1
more_horiz
The A1 is a beaded Prodigy disc rated 4/2/0/5, listed here under putt and approach and sold by Prodigy as an approach disc: very little glide and a very heavy fade. It is a specialty tool rather than a putter. Prodigy aims it at power throwers who want a short shot with little risk of turning over, plus high-wind approaches, short trick shots and flex lines thrown on anhyzer that come back hard. Newer players looking for a straight approach putter are likely to find it dives out too early.
In 2023 Prodigy called it the most overstable approach disc in its lineup, and it raised the fade rating in that year's re-rating of the whole catalogue. Prodigy describes its A Series as torque-resistant, flatter and smaller in diameter than its midranges. Players on Disc Golf Course Review describe a short-range specialty disc with a strong hyzer finish and a sideways skip on landing.
The PDGA approved the A1 on 16 November 2015 (15-68). Prodigy describes the A2 as its beadless, slightly less stable cousin. Try Discs lists the A1 in 300, 400, 500 and 750 plastic, among others, as of October 2026. On our comparison table its nearest matches are the Prodigy A2 and the Innova Gator.

Try Discs adds up reviews from six disc golf stores, so you see what players think across stores, not just at one shop. Reviews are great for spotting proven, popular discs. Take the details with a grain of salt, though: runs, plastics and skill level all change how a disc flies, so your experience may vary.
