Sea Turtle

The Sea Turtle was Ocean Discs' first disc golf mold, a midrange rated 5/5/-1/1. A single point of turn with 5 glide and a small fade reads as a straight midrange flight with a little give at speed and a gentle finish left for a right-hand backhand, a shape for approaches and up-shots rather than for fighting a headwind.

That figure is the base-plastic one, and Ocean splits the rating by line: its product copy gives the Ocean Waste Marine base line the turn carried here, while its premium blends are printed 5/5/0/1, one point less turn. Ocean describes the mold as a straight-flying, torque resistant midrange that handles power from all arm speeds, with glide to hold a line and a small finish at the end. The PDGA approved it on December 18, 2023 under certification 23-272, recording a 21.6 cm diameter, a 1.7 cm height, a 1.4 cm rim depth and a 1.4 cm rim.

Ocean Discs says its ocean-waste plastics are made from 60 percent recycled marine waste, collected as fishing nets, bottles and drums, then sorted and reground into pellets. TryDiscs records the mold in Ocean Waste Marine, Ocean Waste Pacific, Ocean Waste Swirly Pacific and Swirly Atlantic. One caveat comes from Ocean itself: it states plainly that Swirly Atlantic is its premium swirly line and is not made from ocean waste plastic, and points buyers who want a swirly ocean-waste disc to Swirly Pacific instead.
