Valkyrie

The Valkyrie is a workhorse distance driver that turns gently to the right before fading back left at the end (for a right-handed backhand throw), rated 9/4/-2/2. It rewards smooth technique over raw power, which makes it one of the friendlier speed-9 drivers for players still building a throw, while stronger arms use it for long turnover lines and rollers rather than maximum distance.

How it flies depends heavily on weight, a point Innova makes directly: the company says lighter runs give newer players extra distance and long downwind range, while max-weight discs hold better into a headwind. In the hand it is a shallow, beadless driver with a comfortable low-profile rim. It is not a bomber by modern standards, and players chasing pure distance usually reach for a faster, more overstable mold; what the Valkyrie offers instead is control, glide, and an easy hyzer-flip (released on a hyzer angle, it stands up to flat and holds a long line).

Approved by the PDGA in August 2000, it is one of Innova's classic early-2000s distance drivers and spent years as a bag and starter-set staple before faster molds like the Wraith and Destroyer arrived. It has kept its place by filling the control-driver role cleanly.

DX is the inexpensive choice and beats in quickly toward more turn, a favorite for field work and roller practice; Champion and Star hold their stability far longer and suit a bag disc you want flying the same way for years. Well-worn Valkyries make excellent dedicated roller and turnover discs.
