Tern

The Tern is an understable distance driver built for long, shot-shaping flights, a fast, high-glide mold rated 12/6/-3/2 that turns willingly to the right (for a right-handed backhand) and rides that turn for distance before a gentle fade. In a powerful player's hand the mix of speed, glide and natural turn makes it one of Innova's farthest-flying drivers.

It rewards a smooth, flat release: thrown that way it holds a long turning line, and on a hyzer angle it flips up and glides. Into a headwind or with too much power it will flip and roll, so it favors control over muscle. One note on plastic: Innova says the Champion and Glow Champion runs fly more stable than the base rating (closer to 12/6/-2/2), so the same mold is a touch more dependable in Champion and more turny in Star. It is a shallow, beadless speed-12 rim.

Approved in 2012, the Tern was designed as a slightly understable long-range driver, and Innova later positioned the faster Shryke alongside it in 2016.

Star and Echo Star give the most turn and glide; Champion holds the straighter, more stable end of the range and lasts longer before beating in.
