Sidewinder

The Sidewinder is Innova's classic understable fairway driver, a glidey speed-9 mold rated 9/5/-3/1 that turns easily to the right (for a right-handed backhand) and fades very little, which is what makes it such an effective distance aid for less powerful arms. Innova calls it their best disc for long turnover shots and long rollers, and that reputation has held for years.

At moderate power it flies long and turning; it is a favorite first distance driver because it flips up and glides instead of fading out. Stronger players use it deliberately for turnovers, flex lines and some of the easiest rollers in the bag rather than for dead-straight power. It is a shallow, beadless driver. Anyone wanting a stable, dependable fairway driver should look elsewhere, since the Sidewinder is built to turn.

Approved in 2004, it has long been the understable option paired with more stable fairway drivers in a bag.

DX beats in toward even more turn and becomes a dedicated roller; Champion and Star hold the rated flight far longer, which is worth paying for on a disc this understable.
