Firebird

The Firebird is a very overstable control driver that is perfect for hyzers, flicks, and flex shots. This driver is known for being dependably overstable in all conditions, and is able to handle high amounts of power. Power throwers will find the Firebird to be a straight flyer with a strong fade, and slower arms will be able to use the Firebird for a variety of utility shots. Flatter runs of Firebird are highly sought after due to their often increased overstability and reduced glide.

Innova released the Firebird in 2000, and it has since become arguably the most popular utility driver of all time, if not one of the most popular drivers in general. At the time, it was Innova’s first 9-speed disc and essentially knocked every other very overstable driver in Innova’s lineup at the time off the market, including the Whippet and Banshee. As evidence of its popularity, almost every single Innova pro bags at least one Firebird, and almost every manufacturer has made its own version of the Firebird at some point. It was a Ken Climo Signature Disc and has been a Tour Series disc for Nate Sexton and Andrew Marwede. The Firebird is also one of the most widely collected discs in disc golf, and CE Firebirds and Sexton Firebirds are both highly collectible.
