Beast

The Beast is one of Innova's classic distance drivers, a fast, glidey speed-10 mold rated 10/5/-2/2 that turns gently right before a moderate fade back left (for a right-handed backhand). Released in 2002 during the first wave of wide-rim drivers, it earned a reputation for giving players big distance without demanding elite power, which is still its appeal.

It works for a wide range of arms: lower-power players get distance from its glide and turn, while stronger throwers use it for reaching hyzer lines and controllable distance rather than a maximum bomb. It is a shallow, beadless driver. Innova notes the Champion Beast is endorsed by two-time world champion Barry Schultz. Newer players find it easier to control than faster, more overstable modern drivers, though it is not as forgiving as a true understable driver like the Sidewinder.

Approved in December 2002, the Beast was an instant hit and spent years as one of Innova's most-thrown distance drivers before the Wraith, Boss and Destroyer expanded the speed range above it.

DX is the inexpensive, beat-friendly option; Champion and Star hold stability far longer, and Blizzard Champion runs come in very light weights for maximum-distance and turnover use.
