Ultra-Star

The Ultra-Star is not a golf disc in the usual sense: it is Discraft's 175-gram ultimate disc, the standard disc of the sport of ultimate for decades, and it appears here because it holds a PDGA certification (81-02, granted in 1981) that technically makes it legal for disc golf.

As a catch disc it is the icon: a deep, grippable rim built for backhands, hucks, and catches between players, with a stable, floaty flight designed for accuracy rather than golf lines. Golfers occasionally bag one for novelty or catch-style specialty shots, but it carries no golf flight numbers and was never meant to.

Its PDGA record allows weights up to 200 grams, far beyond golf-disc norms, another sign of its different job. It remains in production and is sold everywhere ultimate is played.
