Sting

The Sting is an understable control driver rated 7/5/-2/1: it turns willingly at moderate power and finishes with only a whisper of fade. It suits newer players and finesse throwers who want easy, straight-to-right lines, and it flips over for big arms unless they start it on hyzer.

Touch is the theme: hyzer-flips run long and straight, anhyzers hold to the ground, and low-effort placement shots stay smooth. As with most understable fairways, wear pushes it further right over time.

The Sting was the prototype for Discraft's 2017 Ace Race (PDGA cert 17-119, approved that November), the annual event thrown entirely with an unreleased mold, and it joined the standard lineup afterward.

Today's runs are lean: ESP and Z Line as the mainstays, Big Z alongside, and Titanium and Cryztal Sparkle at the premium end.
