Ringer

The Ringer is an overstable approach disc rated 4/4/0/2: faster than a putter, no turn, and a firm left finish. It is a throwing disc first, for drives on short holes and upshots that need to end left and stop; many players bag it for approaches rather than putting, where its shallow feel is a matter of taste.

The low-profile rim releases clean at speed and handles real power, and the speed-4, fade-2 combination produces that dependable check-up-and-drop landing. Wind does not move it much.

Approved in June 2009 (PDGA cert 09-16), the Ringer has held a spot in Discraft's approach lineup since, and it spun off a groove-top version, the Ringer GT, in 2017 with its own certification; its top profile even returned in the 2024 Zone GT line's "Ringer Top" variant.

Putter Line, Putter Line Soft, and X Soft cover the touch feels, Pro-D the budget, and the premium shelf runs CryZtal (including FLX and Glo FLX), Z Line, Z Metallic, a Z Midnight run, and swirled ESP.
