The Luna is a straight flying putter that excels for both putting and throwing. It has a rounded shoulder and beadless rim to add comfort and comes in a variety of plastics. As a putter, it has a straight-to-overstable flight path with a consistent fade and holds up to wind well. When thrown it flies dead straight and will turn for players with faster arms. Approved in 2018, the Luna was the first of Paul McBeth’s signature lineup of discs created in collaboration with Discraft. McBeth stated that he chose to make a putter first since putting is where championships are won. The initial runs of Lunas were made with a combination of Jawbreaker and Rubber Blend in order to provide a tackier feel along with increased durability. Upon release, many noted that the flight numbers seemed very inaccurate (particularly the 3 fade), and around 2024 when the Kratos was released the flight numbers were adjusted to better reflect the flight of the disc. Flight numbers were updated from 3-3-0-3 to 3-4-0-2. Paul McBeth has stated that the Luna is his favorite disc from his line due to its dependability for both throws and putts. Since its release, the Luna has been produced in more premium plastic varieties, which have become extremely popular throwing putters. McBeth and Anthony Barela both throw them often, and both have been known to throw them in excess of 400 feet thanks to the putter’s glide and torque resistance, especially in premium plastic. McBeth Tour Series and Prototype Lunas are both collectible runs, as are the McBeth x Barela Ledgestone Lunas.

    The Discraft Luna is a putt and approach disc with flight numbers of 3, 4, 0, 2. However, while this appears to suggest that this disc would have a stability rating of +2, this is not the case. Unlike most major disc golf companies, Discraft has a fifth flight number for many of their discs, which gives the disc's stability rating. In the case of the Luna, Discraft assigns this disc stability rating of +0.5, so this disc is actually neutral flying. I have only played a couple of rounds with mine, but my putting game has already improved a great deal. This disc is a putter that gets just the right amount of fade on a putt, and for players who have a tendancy to miss right of the basket when jump or step putting (like me), this disc is a very useful tool to have in your bag. This disc is also an excellent throwing putter and approach disc. As I have mentioned before, it is neutral flying, flying straight at first, and getting a nice, reliable fade as the disc finishes its flight. I would strongly recommend this disc to players of all skill levels. Just like the moon glides across the sky every night, the Discraft Luna will glide into the basket, your bag, and your heart.
