Drone

4.5(168)
Mid Range

The Drone is a seriously overstable utility midrange rated 5/3/1/4. The +1 turn and fade of 4 mean it does one thing, come back left hard, and does it in any conditions: headwinds, full-power forehands, skip approaches, and spike hyzers. Nobody bags a Drone for straight glide.

Its flat, firm profile suits flick grips, and power barely changes the shape, which is the entire job description for an overstable mid. When the wind is bad enough that normal mids stop behaving, this is the one that still lands where the numbers say.

Approved in February 2005 (PDGA cert 05-03), the Drone spent years as Discraft's default overstable mid, and for many players it split those duties with the Zone family as shorter utility shots migrated there.

Recently brought back as a Classic Reissue, the Drone has run in ESP and Z Line, with CryZtal, Titanium and FLX variants (ESP FLX, Titanium FLX), a Rubber Blend Glo, and Tour Series stamps for the shelf-watchers.

Try Discs adds up reviews from six disc golf stores, so you see what players think across stores, not just at one shop. Reviews are great for spotting proven, popular discs. Take the details with a grain of salt, though: runs, plastics and skill level all change how a disc flies, so your experience may vary.
