MD5

The MD5 is Discmania's overstable midrange workhorse, rated 5/3/0/4 for headwinds, forehands, and shots that absolutely cannot turn over (the retired Mutant matches those numbers, making them the brand's joint most overstable mids). It is a meathook by design: low glide, hard fade, and total resistance to power, which makes it a specialist tool rather than a first midrange.

The current MD5 is made by Discmania itself following the 2021 split from Innova, and it is a noticeably different disc from the original: flatter, beadless, and lower-profile, with a fade that pushes forward instead of dumping. The Innova-made original (listed separately as the MD5 Innova Made) is chunkier, beaded, and deeper, with a feel players compare to Innova's Gator. On TryDiscs' own similarity model its nearest neighbors are MVP's Deflector and Prodigy's MX-1.

The MD5 arrived in 2018 as the brand's first true overstable mid, with First Run stamps that still circulate among collectors, and it was reintroduced under the Originals shield with a Reinvented First Run once production moved in-house. Signature runs have followed the brand's young stars, including Gannon Buhr's Cryo Blade in Horizon C-Line and Kyle Klein's Hard Exo Vapor edition.

S-Line is the standard grippy premium option and C-Line the firmer, more durable one, with Metal Flake C-Line, Horizon C-Line, and Hard Exo Vapor appearing in special runs. Buy it for the wind and the flick; for a straighter everyday mid, Discmania points players to the MD3.
